Building Process

Materials List:

  • Cardboard (8×12 inches)
  • Ruler
  • Exacto knife
  • Hot glue (Gun and sticks)
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Thin PVC

  • Glue sticks
  • Tape

  • Gathering materials & measuring cardboard to cut into pieces needed.

Problems during this building process:

The rotating motion was not as smooth as we hoped in the beginning, but after bringing a friend in (Garen in Slideshow picture #8), he helped the overall performance of the retro-scope.

We were also concerned regarding the fragility of the retro-scope when we were rotating the handle too much, as if it could fall apart, however, the entire gadget stayed together.

Our group also strived to add music to the retro-scope when it was being rotated to increase the complexity and make it more interesting. However, that portion was a bit too advanced for the time frame that we had, as we are not expert builders.

Positives:

The meme chosen of Homer Simpson came out exactly as we had wanted to, and the final result had no glitches with a smooth rotation and exactly how we intended the retro-scope to function.
